Professional Aromatherapist provides Aromatherapy Massage in Exeter, Devon
Aromatherapy treatments use essential oils which are pure, concentrated plant extracts with medicinal properties. Mary, the Aromatherapist will go through a holistic medical and lifestyle consultation with the client.
The usual method of using essential oils in salon treatments is though Aromatherapy massage whereby the essential oils are blended with a carrier oill, healing properties are absorbed through the skin and circulated around the body. Massage alone has many benefits, however essential oils really add something else to the treatment. The oils also affect the system through the sense of smell which influences the limbic system in the brain and affects our moods and emotions. Aromatherapy massage generally uses techniques which are not so deep as the treatment is more about pressing the oils into the skin, and techniques are more soothing and relaxing. however I tailor each treatment to the individual, so if you prefer a deeper treatment, or certain areas need some deeper remedial work your needs will be accomodated.
After your treatment, general homecare advice will be given and suggestions may be made regarding home use of essential oils.
Essential oils may be chosen to treat physical or emotional/mental conditions. For example warming oils such as ginger and black pepper may be used for muscular pain whereas detoxifying oils such as juniper and grapefruit would be more appropriate for joint pain in conditions such as arthritis. Uplifting, calming and soothing essential oils are often more suited to emotional problems, e.g. a luxurious combination of rose, jasmine and comforting benzoin would be a good combination for someone suffering from a broken heart. High Quality Essential Oils are blended uniquely for you each visit, and an additional blend may be made up for you to take home.
Sweet Almond Oil is usually used a as a carrier oil. Grapeseed, Sunflower and Sesame Oils are avaliable for any nut allergy sufferers. Calenduala, Coconut, Carrot and Mustard Oil may be used where appropriate.
